Maternity FAQs:

When during my pregnancy is it best to schedule my maternity session?

I recommend you schedule your Maternity session when you are around 30 weeks pregnant (7-8 months). If you are expecting more than one baby we recommend slightly earlier at around 24 weeks. At this stage of your pregnancy your bump is nice and round and you are not uncomfortable. Do not worry if you have left it a little later – whilst slots can fill up, we will always do our best to fit you in.

Where will my maternity photoshoot take place?

Your maternity session will take place in my fully equipped home studio. If you prefer, we can arrange photographs on location, or a lifestyle shoot in your home if you prefer.

What should I wear for my Maternity session?

We will have a consultation before your session to discuss the style of photos you would like to capture. I have a selection of outfits that will show off your bump in all its natural beauty, although if you wish you may of course take along your own. Solid colours generally work best, the simpler the outfit the better – we need to make your bump the center of attention.

How long will my maternity session last?

Your maternity session will last around 2 hours. We will take our time to capture this unique and special time in your life and will not rush things so please allow for a little extra time incase :).

Can my partner and other children be included in my session?

Yes of course – It is such an exciting time for the whole family and we encourage partners and your other children to be part of the experience. We love to create photos that show the bond between you. We will discuss this beforehand so we can arrange co-ordinating outfits etc.

How should I prepare for my photoshoot?

You maternity portrait session is a brilliant excuse to pamper yourself It’s a good idea to moisturise your body the night before your maternity session. Your hands will help to tell the story and are really important in the close up pictures so make sure your nails look great – treat yourself to a manicure or if not tidy any chipped nails – depending on your style natural unpainted or nude nails look great and never go out of fashion :). Why not treat yourself to a pedicure at the same time!! On the day of your session it is important to avoid wearing tight garments such as socks, bra straps, tight underwear that can leave marks on your skin for several hours. Also make sure any leggings/trousers are not pulled on top of your bump as they can leave indents and marks, which will be noticeable on your photos.

What days and times are available?

Maternity sessions are generally scheduled in the evenings and at weekends, although If this is not convenient we can arrange an alternative time.

What does the session fee cover?

The non-refundable session fee covers your initial consultation, your maternity photoshoot, use of outfits/props, and the full editing/retouching of your images. Please note that this session fee does not include any digital or printed images.

What is the proof gallery?

Your proof gallery will be a private gallery on my website where you can view the images from your maternity session. You can then choose which images you wish to purchase as part of your package.

When will my proof gallery be available?

I will contact you when your proof gallery is ready – this is normally around 21 days after your maternity session. Your proof gallery will be available for a period of 14 days for you to choose your images. If you would prefer to attend a viewing session (in person or online) instead please let me know.

Do you offer additional prints and other products?

You can order as many additional prints as required, and I also offer a range of additional products such as bespoke albums, wall art, and additional prints.

When will my digital images, prints and additional products be ready/delivered?

Your high resolution digital images will be available for download within seven days of you placing your order. Prints, wall art and other products are usually delivered between 2-4 weeks after your order has been placed – I will discuss delivery methods and times beforehand.
